Y’all… I feel conflicted about this ooey-gooey yummy marshmallow popcorn.
We all know the #2 rules of playing nice on Pinterest right?
#1- Always pin from the original source to give the credit to the creator
#2- Never put the full recipe in the description
Well friends, this pin didn’t follow either of those rules. I tried to image search to find the original post but had no luck. I tried to back track through pinners to see if I could get to the original, but I gave up after going back about 10.
So I am going to post the recipe for you here, but please let me know if you know the original source. This is not my recipe.
3 bags of popcorn (I used butter flavored)
2 sticks of butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 bag of large marshmallows
The pinned recipe calls for you to make it in the microwave, but I cooked mine on the stove so that I could pop the popcorn at the same time. Stir the butter, sugar, and marshmallows together over med-high heat until melted into a thin sauce. (Keep stirring constantly so that it doesn’t burn or stick to the sides!) I poured my popped popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Be sure to remove the unpopped kernels (and be careful, those bad boys are hot!). Pour the marshmallow sauce over the popcorn and mix well to coat.
Let this be a reminder to all of us to play nice on Pinterest. I plan on going through my boards this week to “clean house” and be more aware of what I re-pin from others.
Now… why am I making this yummy treat? (Because it’s a day that ends in Y, duh)… No, a reason much more important & rewarding…
Now… what to make? Being 150 degrees here in Texas, I knew I didn’t want to send anything that had chocolate in it (or involved me turning on the oven!). I also didn’t want to stress about sending pretty little decorated cookies and hoping they arrived through the mail unharmed. So when I saw this recipe on Pinterest, I thought it looked like a winner.
And y’all, it is that. I hope that the recipient enjoys it! Who is it going to? I’m glad you asked. The person I received was nominated by a friend, here are some of the things her friend had to say:
“She is such an inspiration to me… she is the most cheerful and encouraging supportive friend that someone could have… she was there for me when I needed her, with empathy and care, offering helpful suggestions… she makes me feel totally accepted, valued, and cared for… she has taught me so much about how to truly love and encourage others… I would love for her to have a treat because she is always the one showing up with treats and encouragement for others.”
Wow. We should all be so lucky to have a friend like that! At least we can all be so lucky to share this marshmallow popcorn. Yum.
