As a firefighter wife, I’ve spent my share of holidays at the fire station because of my husband’s schedule.  The first year he was with the department he worked my birthday, Valentine’s day, our anniversary, Thanksgiving, AND Christmas.  It’s just the way the days worked out that his shift hit every major holiday.  For Thanksgiving, all of the wives and kids went up to visit for lunch and the guys got a call for a major apartment fire.  We ended up eating without them!

James works Father’s Day this year, so I decided I wanted to do something special beforehand for him.  When I was given the opportunity to work with Omaha Steaks, I knew this would be the perfect chance to surprise my husband and celebrate early.  It was so easy to go online and order- everything I wanted all in one place.  During peak holiday times the meat selection at our local store starts to get a little sparse- sometimes I have to visit more than one if I need a lot of the same cut of meat.  I knew I wanted a variety of items to take up to the fire station, so I ordered The Omaha Steaks Exclusive Pack for The Home Depot:

  • 2 (8 oz.) Boneless Strips
  • 2 (5 oz.) Top Sirloins
  • 8 (3 oz.) Polish Sausages
  • 8 (3 oz.) Italian Sausages
  • 4 (4 oz.) Omaha Steaks Burgers
  • 4 (3 oz.) Gourmet Jumbo Franks

This pack also comes with a $3.oo Coupon off Kingsford Charcoal at Home Depot, AND one $10 Home Depot Gift Card to participating stores.  This exclusive package is regularly $175.00, but available now for only $69.99.

It arrived super fast, all neatly packaged, and ready to go in my freezer.

I knew we would be cooking it right away, so instead of putting it in the freezer I headed straight to the fire station.

I thought it was really neat that the steaks came with an unconditional guarantee.  Each steak is fully inspected for perfection and receives a registration number.  If you’re not absolutely thrilled with your purchase from Omaha Steaks, for any reason at all, they will replace your purchase or refund your money, whichever you prefer.  Guarantees like that make me feel good about my purchase- because I know the company stands behind their product.

At the station the guys used a gas grill (easier to turn off and leave if they receive a call in the middle of making dinner).  We have both at home, but my husband loves grilling out with charcoal.   Now better than ever, Kingsford Charcoal features Sure Fire Grooves.  These deep, wide and long grooves mean the briquets light easier and heat faster — while burning just as long as before.  As always, each briquet is made with natural ingredients and real wood, resulting in the authentic smoky flavor that Kingsford has long been known for. Visit grilling.com for additional recipes.

To go with our grill fest, I also made some “cheeseburger cupcakes”.

Cheeseburger Cupcakes- perfect to take to cookouts and summer grilling parties!

These were super easy to make: use your favorite yellow and chocolate cupcake recipes.  Cut each cupcake in half, obviously using the chocolate as the “meat” and the vanilla as the “buns”.  I used yellow candy melts to make the “cheese” and coconut flakes with green food coloring for the “lettuce”.  I didn’t have any red melts, so I mixed together powdered sugar with a splash of water and red food coloring to make the “ketchup”.

I would definitely use Omaha Steaks online ordering service again.  It was just too easy to pick out what I needed, know that I was going to receive quality meat, and not have to set foot in a grocery store!  Hurry and order soon to get it in time for Father’s Day!  (Don’t forget this exclusive pack comes with the Home Depot gift card- I know my hubby won’t have any problems finding a Father’s Day gift or two while we’re there!)
